Just recently there was a debate about having seat belts installed in buses as a kid was thrown out of his school bus and died in that accident. Its sad to have this discussion only after someone's child was painfully taken away in such a horrific manner.
What disgusted me more was when I heard someone made the following statement:
"...so dangerous to have seat belts, when an accident happens and if the bus catches fire how will the child be able to unbuckle to escape..."
Mathematically we would be able to tell the chances of getting flung out of the vehicle would be higher than getting burnt in one. Besides you can teach a child to unbuckle but you can't teach a child not to "fly out" of the vehicle in the event of an accident.
You can be sure that my children will be buckled up!
However, I feel safe and defensive driving is the best way to prevent tragedies from happening. Reckless drivers should be locked up regardless of any accidents that occur because of their selfish actions. Why wait till someone loses a child before talking about it.
